Silver Spring, MD—October 1, 2008 — The Information Technology Service Management System in use at the Raytheon Advanced Weather Interactive Processing Systems (AWIPS) program at the National Weather Service at NOAA successfully achieved registration to the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 standard for IT Service Management in September 2008. The Raytheon AWIPS project is one of a small number of ISO 20000 registrations held by organizations in the United States. The AWIPS team utilizes a concept of operations closely aligned to the Information Technology Information Library (ITIL).

While the registration is listed under the Raytheon Company, AWIPS team partners may claim association with the registered program. Fairfield Technologies Inc. (FTI) personnel contributed to the program as verified in compliance with ISO 20000 under the following scope of registration:

The Raytheon Information Solutions’ AWIPS Team IT Service Management System that support the provision of Program Management, Service Desk, Network Management, Software Maintenance and Support, and Evolution to the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS).

FTI’s personnel were recognized for their contributions to the AWIPS Program following notice of the ISO 20000 registration in September.
