Summary

Fairfield Technologies Inc. is currently providing business and management consulting services, along with website design and development support, for the Virginia Small Business Development Center Network, an organization of 29 local SBDCs across Virginia providing professional business counseling, training and information resources to help grow and strengthen Virginia businesses. In 2003, over 4,600 business owners and managers received one-on-one counseling and more than 7,200 attended a training program offered by a local SBDC office.

Fairfield Technologies continues to provide significant e-business-based Promotion, Program Marketing and Customer Relationship Management support to the Virginia SBDC Network, in order to improve organizational effectiveness. Specific tasks performed by FTI personnel have included:

• Helping identify organization strategic marketing efforts to specific stakeholder segments to increase demand for Virginia SBDC services
• Analyzing previous communication programs to targeted market segments, and reviewing projected FY 2004 business efforts
• Helping develop an action plan for coordinating stakeholder-focused business communication and marketing efforts across multiple office locations, multiple media, and multiple languages
• Identifying specific response metrics for business communication efforts, and developing an approach for collecting, reviewing, and acting on the business communication metrics gathered very quickly (reducing overall cycle time)
• Enhancing Virginia SBDC Network’s web presence to support strategic and operating decisions made during the course of this task
• Providing follow-up audit and evaluation of business program performance to determine the effectiveness of the business actions taken, the metrics collected and tracked, and to identify additional potential areas of improvement

Successful ongoing performance of this task supports the Virginia SBDC Network’s corporate objective of communications with over 900 key organization stakeholders throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, including U.S. Congressmen and Senators, Virginia Delegates and Senators, influential business, government, and university leaders.
